Welcome to the Robert E. (Bob) Jones Archives Database!
Bob Jones, a resident of Scottsboro, Alabama, was elected as a Democrat to the 80th Congress by special election in January 28, 1947 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of John J. Sparkman. Jones was reelected to the fourteen succeeding Congresses and served until January 3, 1977. During his tenure in Congress, Jones served as chairman of the Committee on Public Works and Transportation. Jones was also instrumental in the movement of the Army rocket and guided missile mission to Redstone Arsenal and continued to be a staunch supporter of the missile and space programs in Huntsville throughout his career.
