Biographical Note
George Akimoto was a legendary aviation and space artist. He also drew movie posters and other art works.
Akimoto was a longtime illustrator who created technical and promotional works for Douglas Aircraft Company and others. He worked for Douglas Aircraft for several years in the early 1950s, then he joined the Ramo-Wooldridge company (later TRW) and worked on early space vehicle illustrations. In 1967 Akimoto joined McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach and eventually became the company's Chief Illustrator.
