Matrix Computer Analysis of Structures, 1966
Scope and Contents
"Document Type: Textbook (Technical).
Purpose: Training and Education.
Authority: Author Expertise.
Series: Prentice-Hall International Series in Engineering of the Physical Science
Scope (Preface):
"This book was developed in teaching courses in structural analysis during the past five years. Most of the material in the book has been used in a yearly course (""Use of Computers in Structural Engineering"") for practicing engineers offered by the University of California Engineering Extension.
The material, except for Chapters 1, 4, and 5, has also been used in a one-semester graduate course in advanced structural analysis. Portions of the first nine chapters and parts of Chapter 11 have been used in a senior one-semester course in structural analysis.
The book has two main objectives:
1. The Practicing Structural Engineer
To acquaint the practicing structural engineer with the fundamental concepts of digital computers and enable him to develop, through independent study, working knowledge of modern matrix methods in structures so that he can exploit the capabilities of the computer
2. The Student
To provide a textbook in modern methods of structural analysis for a one-semester course
To accomplish these two objectives, the book assumes no prior knowledge of computers or matrix algebra and develops all the necessary fundamentals in the theory of structures."
