Scope (from Preface): "In this book, an effort has been made to cover the more practical phases of both theory and experiment. Unusual emphasis has been placed on the physical aspect of the theory in order to cultivate the interest of the student and to provide a general background suitable for later more intensive mathematical work in the field.
