"Regular, definite, and frequent assignments of lettering practice should be the aim of every drawing teacher. The assignments should be short, but should be carried through the entire first year of drawing. With this aim in view, the authors have worked out the series of exercises given here, covering an entire year of lettering to be carried in connection with the regular drawing course"

A pamplet of thirty six lettering exercises of, numbers, letters, drawings, and sentences of the industry standard style for mechnical drafting: "slant, single-strokem Gothic captial letters with a slightly modified type of Reinhardt lower-case letters".
