Ultralight Propulsion: The Basic Handbook of Ultralight Engines, Drives and Propellers, 1982, 1983-01
Scope and Contents
Document Type: Book (Technical Reference).
Purpose: Authoritative Reference.
Authority: Author Expertise.
Scope (from the Foreword): "Mr. Brinks, by his intensive research and clear presentation of technical information, has gone further than just explaining how an engine works. He has gone into detail on how to recognize and troubleshoot problems and has explained the two cycle engine inside out. Much of the information contained in this book will help you to identify problems, before they result in possible damage to your engine and costly repair bills.
The importance for an ultralight pilot to understand his engine cannot be overemphasized. A pilot who thoroughly understands his engine is a safer pilot.
Mr. Brinks' treatment of the two cycle engine should allow pilots to fly with a much higher degree of confidence. From Chapter 1, "The Basics of Engine Design and Operation" right through to Chapter 13, "Ultralight Engine Guide", the information contained in this book should be required reading for all ultralight pilots."
