Medication and Flying: A Pilot's Guide, 1985, 1985
Scope and Contents
Document Type: Book (Technical Reference)
Purpose: Authoritative Reference.
Authority: Author Expertise.
Scope (Introduction): "It is hoped that this guide will fill a serious information need that has existed for many years in civil aviation. No single guide can be 100 percent applicable to all people, however, and this guide must be used with the appropriate judgment and care. The following information will help the reader use the guide most effectively.
Ideally, a pilot will take no medication whatsoever when flying. Some-times, however, a pilot can get effective relief from a medical problem by taking a specific type of medicine. This guide provides judgments made by the author and his consultants in aviation medicine and pharmacology concerning pilots' use of specific drugs."
