Document Type: Periodical (Historical Study).
Purpose: Informational.
Authority: Author Expertise.
Document Number: Collector's Series (aka "All American Series") Volume VIII (dated 1970).

The book includes articles about specific airplanes, as well as other biographical and historical information related to aviation. Each article consists of pages of text and photographs and two or more pages of detailed three-view or four-view scale drawings of the aircraft from the top / bottom view(s) and side view(s).
The front cover includes a full-color photograph of a Waco UPF-7.
From the Front matter by Paul R. Matt:
"A Very interesting trend seems to be occuring in the historical aviation field. Something we at HISTORICAL AVIATION ALBUM welcome and have actually advocated since its inception some five years ago. Whether you are a general aviation reader, researcher, serious buff or a model builder you are becoming more demanding, more discriminating in the material published on aviation. Some just look at the pictures, others read and want more meat in well rounded stories, while still others await only the scale drawings. Each has his own interest and usually pursues it with great enthusiasm.
Serious researchers relish serial numbers, tabulations and extensive lists. The buff wants background material, exact dates, names and places. The reader enjoys well chosen illustrations and factual reading material. There was a time when a general 3-view outline sketch of an airplane was all that was required by the model builder. Today sanctioned scale contests demand packaged proof-of-scale. No one book, series of books or magazines can present it all nor satisfy it all. If they did it would be so dull, so narrow minded, so catering that it would satisfy less than 1% of the aviation fraternity. Going down one simple-minded track would run anyone out of business in less than six months.
Unlike an arty monthly magazine, we don't believe splashes of color all over the contents to be at all necessary. Color alone does not sell a quality publication. Yet this is another need and honest desire of our readers. All these differing factors are part of the game. It takes time and an overall scrutiny of an ever changing world to meet the likes of so many readers with so many diversified interests of their own. Whether the choice of contents be a well known subject or a more obscure one, we have to consider that magic formula -- balance. No doubt the largest demand is for variety. With this issue we firmly believe HISTORICAL AVIATION ALBUM is showing for the first time what it is really destined to be. We trust you think so too."
