McDonald was a Boeing Service Engineer who had supported B-17 units in combat and he shared his "blunt assessment of what it will really take, especially on the Home Front, to win World War II. He closes by saying, "I think we can win this war, but not until we dig in more earnestly and more unselfishly than we're doing now."
