From the Preface: "Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Division of United Aircraft Corporation, is justly proud of the enviable record for dependable service established by its engines, and it is equally proud of its employees whose craftsmanship and efforts are responsible for making such an outstanding record possible.

The Management endeavors to select for employment only those individuals whose character. habits, training and experience are suitable for its operations. The Management desires that the motto "Quality First" shall become the standard by which the employee gauges his production. The employee is invited to pass on to the Management for consideration, ideas and suggestions that will contribute towards upholding that motto or for improving machine operations and processes or safety.

Every employee should realize that he is an essential part of the organization and that the interests of the Division are also his personal interests. Shop rules and regulations are necessary for the protection and guidance of employees, efficient and successful operation of the plant, and proper coordination of departments. In accepting employment with the Division, the employee agrees to abide by the rules and regulations and is expected to fulfill this promise."
