Purpose: Informational.
Authority: Company (Manufacturer).
Document Number: Volume 1, No. 1 (March 9, 1943).
Scope: Monthly newsletter written and published in various local newspapers by the United Aircraft Corporation as a "...Report of Performance at Home and Abroad by the Designers and Builders of Chance Vought Airplanes, Pratt & Whitney Engines, Sikorsky Helicopters and Hamilton Standard Propeller.
Includes a 7.25" x 10.25" single-sheet memorandum dated March 9, 1943 from Eugene E. Wilson, President of United Aircraft Corporation. The memo says:
"Dear Fellow Employee:
Accompanying this letter is the first of a series of United Aircraft newspaper advertisements. This will be published today in all cities where United Aircraft plants are operated, as well as in other Leading newspapers throughout the country.
Our company has grown so rapidly and we are now scattered so widely that it is difficult even for our own employees to keep in touch with one another. We think therefore that you and your family will be keenly interested in knowing more about your company, your work, and your part in the war effort. At the same time, we believe that these advertisements will help to acquaint the citizens of the entire country with the progress that United Aircraft is making on the home front and with the performance of our products in wartime service.
I hope that you will find in this advertisement much news about your company that will be of Interest, and that you will watch the bulletin boards for announcements of other advertisements in the series."
