Scope: Full-color lithographic print from an original painting by an unknown artist. Artist signed the painting, however we have yet to decipher the signature (possibly R.G. Smith, Neal Jacobe, William Carr or Keith Meininger). Work was likely done in the late 1950s, as similar works are from 1958.

Contents: Depicts a Suid Afrikaanse lugdiens [South African Airways or (SAA)] Douglas DC-7B (registration number ZS-DKD) over in flight over what is likely Johannesburg, South Africa.

Note: A 1956 photo of the newly delivered SAA DC-7B shows the aircraft over Johannesburg, looking towards the mine dumps to the south / southwest of the city. Note: This print came from the Douglas Aircraft Company, Long Beach, CA and was given to the donor in the 1960s. It likely came from company engineering offices and was disposed of during construction/renovation of the facility.
