- Issue No. 5 (May 1959, 12 pages): "This issue of The Scout sets the stage for the quarter century story. This issue covers the pre-Menasco Manufacturing Company era. It highlights the efforts of A. L. Menasco and others as they built airplane engines in a garage in Beverly Hills and in the McKinley Street factory as Menasco Motors. As you will note in the Menasco Guide, the first inverted in-line airplane engine in the world, a four cylinder, 95 horse power, Model A4 is displayed in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D. C. This issue pictorially and by printed word weaves the names and planes that made aviation history. Mr. Dunbar spent long hours in research to bring you the Menasco story.
