Scope: Full-color lithographic print from an original painting by George L. Stachnick, an illustrator in the Art Department of the Engineering Division, Glenn L. Martin Company. Work was likely done circa 1947 or 1948 as the airplane was entering commercial service.

Contents: Depicts a Martin 202 commercial transport airplane (without an airline livery) in flight over clouds.

Format & Physical Description

Color lithograph print, approx. 21.5" height x 29.5" width. Print has been encapsulated in mylar and stored flat.

Note: Overall very good condition, however paper is browning moderately.

Note 2: Print was damaged in transit to AEHS from original donor. The bottom left edge of poster is torn and missing small pieces, however little of the actual artwork was damaged. Print was removed from damaged frame.

Painted, printed and distributed circa 1947 to 1949 by the Glenn L. Martin Company, Baltimore, Maryland.

Preservation

Preservation Level 2.F. Digital preservation completed 29 Jun 2026 and the object was encapsulated in mylar.
