Scope Note: SCOPE: The broad class of drawings that are intended for constructional, mechanical, or mapping purposes and that follow precise conventions of scale and projection, including cross-sections, details, diagrams, elevations, perspectives, plans, etc., made for use in a technical context. In an aeronautical or aerospace context, includes preliminary, final, red-lined and as-built drawings used primarily for the production, installation, retro-fit, upgrade and maintenance of aircraft, missiles and spacecraft, as well as motors, on-board equipment and related ground equipment.
In an aeronautical or aerospace context, Technical Data includes engineering data, drawings, descriptions and procedures that have been approved by the manufacturer, civil or military authority, or other authorized entity for use by aircrew or technicians building, installing, retro-fitting, upgrading, operating, or maintaining aeronautical and aerospace vehicles and equipment. Technical data includes: operating manuals, technical manuals (including maintenance manuals), approved technical drawings and some aeronautical and aerospace records.
